HOMEOWNERSHIP
Sandusky County Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors has announced that applications will be received in 2025 for future new home construction projects. The open application period for these projects closed at 5:00PM on July 3, 2025.
With the closing of the open enrollment period, our homeowner selection committee will meet to review applications and then start the selection process. Over the summer months selected applicants should expect to attend an in person interview and participate in a scheduled home visit. Details surrounding application approval will be shared throughout the selection process.

ELIGIBILITY
Habitat uses three criteria to determine whether or not a family is ready to take part in the homeownership program.
-
Need
Families often need a home because their current housing isn't viable. It may be overcrowded, too expensive, structurally unsound, or located in a dangerous neighborhood.
-
Ability to pay
You must be able to afford a monthly mortgage payment. Consideration of credit history and debt to income ratio is also evaluated. Affordability will be discussed as part of the application process.
-
Willingness to partner
Habitat homeowners work on their own homes as well as homes for others and may volunteer in other ways around the community. Education classes related to homeownership are also included as part of sweat equity.
Please call the office at 419-355-1257 with any questions or concerns.

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA
